  • Known as the graveyard of the Atlantic, the Outer Banks of North Carolina contain approximately 500 wrecks.  Foul weather, accidents, geography, German submarines during WWII and intentional sinkings - to create artificial reefs - are the reasons this location is rich in sunken ships - and the marine life that lives on it.
